There is a call for abstracts for the upcoming conference, Health and Well-Being: Research, Practice and Politics, sponsored by the Lillian Wright Maternal-Child Health Scholars Program at York, the York Institute for Health Research and the Ontario Women’s Health Council Chair in Women’s Mental Health Research at York.

The goal of the conference is to provide a venue for York students, as well as students from other universities, to present their work and to exchange ideas on a broad range of issues related to health and well-being. Submissions are encouraged from students conducting health-related research in all disciplines by the May 1 deadline. The conference will take place on June 5 at York.
Themes include but are not limited to women’s mental health; mother-child interactions; children and attachment; the social determinants of health; biophysiological aspects of health; health policy; health, social inclusion and social justice; and health promotion with diverse communities.

The conference’s keynote speakers will include Leslie Atkinson (MA ’80, PhD ’86), a professor in Ryerson University’s Department of Psychology; Pat Campbell, chief executive officer of Echo: Improving Women’s Health in Ontario, an agency of the Ontario Ministry of Health & Long-Term Care; and Notisha Massaquoi, executive director of Women’s Health in Women’s Hands at the Community Health Centre.
