President & Vice-Chancellor Mamdouh Shoukri has issued this message to the York community:
In my May 27th statement to the York community, I indicated that I was undertaking a review of the various functions of the Marketing & Communications Division, the Office of University Events & Community Relations and the Office of Alumni & Advancement Services.
With the impending departure of Chief Marketing Officer Richard Fisher and the continued vacancy of the executive director of Alumni & Advancement Services position, I have decided that the best way to consolidate and streamline our activities is to create a single new position – Vice-President University Relations – which will be one of my direct reports.
I intend to undertake this search immediately, and I will update the community as the search progresses. The successful candidate for the VP University Relations will be tasked with determining the final organizational structure of the new division to better coordinate and focus our outreach efforts. In the meantime, the three units – Marketing & Communications, Office of University Events & Community Relations and the Office of Alumni & Advancement Services – will maintain their current reporting relationships.
It is my intention that we emerge from this recession as a stronger university, and I am confident that these changes are an important step towards reaching that goal.
