York extends its international reach

Representatives from York International and the Office of the VP Academic & Provost signed new collaboration agreements with three universities recently. Two of the agreements – the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York (UB) and the University of Jos, Nigeria – were endorsed during visits by officials from the universities at signing ceremonies in June. The third agreement signed is with the University of Cape Town, South Africa.

On June 15, the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York formalized a new university-wide collaboration agreement. There have been a number of York activities involved with UB over the years – with Osgoode Hall Law School in particular – but no formal collaboration. UB representatives also acknowledged the efforts of Shubert to further the connection between York and their university with a special award that was presented during a small ceremony in the York Room following the signing.

The University of Jos formalized a new agreement supporting university-wide exchanges with York on June 18.

Historically, the universities have engaged in joint activities in theatre and law. The new agreement brings a full range of exchanges that include opportunities for research and opportunities for students and academics.

On June 19, the University of Cape Town also entered into an agreement formalizing university-wide collaboration between the institutions for the first time.
