President advises arrangements during convalescence

Dear members of the York community:

This notice is to advise you that I am convalescing after undergoing a medical procedure on Friday, Feb. 5. My doctors are pleased with the results and progress; my hospital stay will be brief and I expect to be discharged later today, Monday, Feb. 8.

I will be at home for the next two to three weeks and I will keep you posted as to when I will be back at my desk.

During my absence, the University’s leadership team will continue to move things forward. Vice-President Academic & Provost Patrick Monahan will keep me informed, manage the business of the University on a day to day basis and stand in for me as needed until I return.

Thank you for all of your good wishes and I am looking forward to returning to campus as soon as my physicians say that I am ready to be back with you.

Sincerely,

Mamdouh Shoukri
President & Vice-Chancellor
