Talk looks at ecological citizenship and politics of seeing in Cold War America

History Professor Finis Dunaway of Trent University will discuss ecological citizenship and politics in Cold War America at the next lecture in the 2009-2010 Research Seminar Series presented by York’s Science & Technology Studies (STS) Program.

Dunaway will present “Beyond the Mushroom Cloud: Ecological Citizenship and the Politics of Seeing in Cold War America” Tuesday, March 23, from 12:30 to 2pm in Norman’s, 203A Bethune College, Keele campus.

He is currently completing research for a book tentatively titled "From the Atomic Bomb to Global Warming: Environmentalism and the Politics of Spectacle in Modern America". He is interested in the cultural, environmental and political history of the modern United States, American studies and visual culture. Dunaway is the author of Natural Visions: The Power of Images in American Environmental Reform (University of Chicago Press, 2005).

The STS Program is co-housed in the Faculty of Science & Engineering and the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies.
