Author Aleksandar Hemon, winner of a John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation grant, will read from his novel The Lazarus Project on Thursday.
The event will take place April 1, from noon to 2:30pm in the Vanier Senior Common Room, 010 Vanier 
College, Keele campus. It is sponsored by the Religious Studies Program in the Department of Humanities, the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Vanier College.
Hemon is also the author of three collections of short stories – Love and Obstacles (Riverhead Books, 2009), Nowhere Man (Nan A. Talese, 2002) and The Question of Bruno (Nan A. Talese, 2000).
The Lazarus Project (Riverhead Books, 2008) was a finalist for the 2008 National Book Awards and the National Book Critics Circle Awards. It was named a New York Times Notable Book and New York magazine’s number one book of the year. Nowhere Man was also a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award.
His articles have appeared in The New Yorker, Esquire, The Paris Review and the Sarajevo magazine BH Dani.
Hemon went to Chicago in 1992, for what he thought would be a few months, but when Sarajevo came under siege he found himself stuck in America.
