Tickle the ivories with a new piano

Whether you’re a professional musician or simply enjoy “tickling the ivories” from time to time, if you’re in the market for a piano, you may find one at York next month.

Each year, York University renews its stock of pianos on campus. The previous year’s on-loan instruments and other outstanding pianos are made available to staff, students and the public for purchase during this annual event.

A special preview day for York faculty, staff, alumni and students will be held Wednesday, Aug. 18, from 12 to 7pm. The piano sale will take place in Rooms 231 & 235 in the Accolade East Building on the Keele campus.

The sale is open to the public on:

  • Aug. 19, from 10am to 8pm

  • Aug. 20, from 10am to 8pm
  • Aug. 21, from 10am to 6pm
  • Aug. 22, from 11am to 5pm

Appointments are recommended, but walk-ins are welcome.

Over 100 instruments will be available, including new and used, professionally refurbished and refinished uprights, grands, baby grands and 88-note digital pianos. Brand names include Young Chang, Weber, Mason & Hamlin, Kawai, Yamaha, Steinway, Heintzman, Kurzweil and many others.

Delivery, tuning and warranty services are provided by Y.C. Chau & Sons Pianos, the official service provider for York University’s musical needs.
