Do you want to know more about your pension statement, how to read it, working beyond 65 and what the minimum guarantee means? The Retirement Planning Centre is running a series of seminars to deal with some of the most perplexing questions.
All seminars listed are presented by Terisa Ducharme, associate director of Pension & Benefits. The seminars can be attended in person or viewed via the web. When registering, indicate how you would prefer to attend.
Understanding the Minimum Guarantee Pension Benefit
Changing economic times have made us all look more closely at our economic future in retirement. The minimum guarantee benefit has become a far more important aspect of our pension plan, as a result of fluctuating rates of return in York's pension plan. The seminar will provide information about the minimum guarantee benefit, as well as other aspects of the pension plan. This seminar is offered:

How to Read Your York Pension Statement
Many people get their York pension statement, look at the amount of their monthly pension, and then file it. Some people glance at the information as if it’s written in a foreign language. If the pension statement confuses you, then come to this seminar.
Your York pension forms are a major component of your retirement income. It’s important to know what impacts your pension, how early retirement is calculated, the implications of various pension options and what happens to your pension upon death either prior to or after retirement. The Retirement Planning Centre strongly advises that you bring your last pension statement with you to the seminar for reference.

Working Beyond 65, What Does That Mean to You?
Many at York have decided to stay beyond the normal retirement age of 65, and many are considering it. With the end of mandatory retirement, you now have a choice of when to retire. This seminar will detail the impact to you when you work beyond 65.
