Not sure where your next class is, or where to park? York’s new interactive online map has the answer and will even give you a recent pop-up picture of all campus buildings, their official names and their civic addresses.
And that’s not all. The map will provide regular construction updates – a critical feature as construction of new TTC subway stations picks up speed. The navigation tab (to the left) allows users to locate student housing and the student centre, as well as art, performance, and sports and recreation venues, and has a link to transit schedules including the TTC, GO Transit, Wheeltrans, VIVA, goSAFE, YRT and more.
Click on each mode of transit to see where it stops on the map. Click on the legend to see what each symbol represents.

The map also expands to full screen, can be made larger and moved about so you can print just the portion of it that you’re interested in. Hit the reset map tab and it will return to its original configuration. Printer friendly colour or black and white PDF versions are also available.
"The Office of the Vice-President Finance & Administration worked collaboratively with the Office of the Vice-President University Relations and University Information Technology to develop and launch this web-based campus map that will help way finding for students and visitors new to our campuses. The project is timely because of the significant level of construction at both campuses," says Steve Dranitsaris, senior executive officer in the Office of the Vice-President Finance & Administration.
It was designed and created by the University Relations design team, who did an extensive review of other university interactive maps in the United States and Canada and pulled out the best components for York's needs.
The next steps in the map’s ongoing evolution are to add building directories for each administrative and academic building for easy reference, a Glendon interactive map and a new smart phone application that will allow students to navigate from one spot to another across campus using an alphabetized list of buildings in the search function.
It’s not only the online maps that have been redesigned. The posted maps around campus have also changed to improve way finding for new students and visitors and to improve communication during subway construction. The modern simplified design of the campus map utilizes a grid system, which makes finding buildings easier.
The Keele interactive map is currently available. The Glendon interactive map is still being developed and will be online soon.
