Keele campus closed today in wake of fire, reopens Wednesday

York University’s Keele campus remains closed today, Tuesday, while the University restores heating capacity that was lost due to a fire in the Central Utilities Building on Monday.

The university will reopen Wednesday, Dec. 15.

All Campus Services and Business Operations (CSBO) staff who are regularly scheduled for shifts starting at 3pm or onward today are expected to report to work today as usual.

All other staff members at the Keele campus are required to return to work on Wednesday. Staff should check the York website Tuesday for further information updates.

All exams scheduled for Tuesday, as well as classes and other on-campus activities, at the Keele campus have been postponed and will be rescheduled. This includes exams scheduled for the Rexall Centre. Glendon campus activities are not affected.

Exams scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 15 will be held as planned. For further information on rescheduling of exams, students should consult the Current Students website.

Residence students who were relocated to hotels are being brought back to campus by bus, starting at 11am today. Students may now return to their residences.
