The construction is necessary to prepare the Sheppard West Station site for two of the four tunnel boring machines (TBM). A construction area has been established on the south side of Sheppard Avenue West on Parc Downsview Park land between Chesswood Drive and Tuscan Gate, adjacent to the GO Transit Bradford to Barrie line.

Early construction work includes:

  • Contractor site preparation.
  • Intersection improvements.
  • Utility relocations.
  • Installation of an excavation shoring system.
  • Preparation of launch shaft for the TBM operations and start of tunnelling/launch.
