Save big on Rogers Cup tickets to see best names in women’s tennis

The women are back. Winner of last year’s Rogers Cup in Montreal, number one world-ranked Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark will defend her title against the best female players at the Rexall Centre on York’s Keele campus this August.

Number two world-ranked Kim Clijsters, however, may have a different idea about who is going to win with $2 million in prize money up for grabs. The Rogers Cup, presented by National Bank and Rogers  cup Posterorganized by Tennis Canada, will run from August 6 to 14 in Toronto. Discounts are available for YFile readers.

The last time the women were in Toronto, in 2009, Olympic gold medallist Elena Dementieva snatched the trophy, taking her place next to former cup winners Chris Evert, Martina Navratilova, Steffi Graf, Monica Seles, Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario, Martina Hingis and Serena Williams.

Some of this summer’s contenders at the Rogers Cup will include the Williams sisters, along with number seven world-ranked Li Na.

Qualifying rounds will take place Saturday, Aug. 6 and Sunday, Aug. 7. Tickets are available for both qualifying sessions. Opening night will take place on Monday, Aug. 8.
