Get your running shoes on. The York is U Student Alumni Program is once again hosting the annual Terry Fox Run at York and it’s hoping to surpass the more than $10,000 raised in donations last year by the York community.
The Terry Fox Run will take place Sunday, Sept. 18, from 10am to noon. Registration will begin at 9am sharp and end at 10am. Arrive early to register. At 9:45am, Health Education & Promotion at York will facilitate warm-up exercises as a fun way to get hyped up and ready to participate in the big run. The run will commence sharply at 10am, with the starting line in front of the Steacie Science Library located on Campus Walk, Keele campus. There is no entry fee and no minimum pledge.
Bring roller blades, skateboards or running shoes. Strollers, pets and wheelchairs are also welcomed. Complimentary parking will be available at Arboretum Lane Parking Garage (next to the run site).

The run will be led by fourth-year student Vivian Ng, community affiliations director of the York is U Student Alumni Program. “It is important to carry on the marathon of hope and remember why Terry Fox did all this. Eighty-five cents of every dollar raised goes to cancer research,” says Ng.
To make it even more interesting, York President & Vice-Chancellor Mamdouh Shoukri has issued a Terry Fox Run senior administrative challenge to all members of the University Executive Committee to see who can raise the most donations against “Team Shoukri”.
The two-kilometre run will have a hydration station and a first-aid station along the route to keep runners and walkers hydrated. Following the run, registered participants will receive certificates of completion. Due to construction around the Keele campus, the route has been shortened this year, but will continue to be accessible.
The Terry Fox Run is completed each year to promote ongoing cancer research. This is just one of the 9,000 volunteer-led and organized runs.
