The York University Lions men’s soccer team scored two unanswered goals to come from behind and defeat the visiting University of Guelph Gryphons 2-1 at York Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 17.
In the eighth minute, the No. 1 nationally ranked Lions faced an early setback in the match-up when Guelph’s Robert Murphy scored a quick goal, ending the Lions’ four-game shutout streak. However, a quick recovery by York’s offensive and defensive play quickly turned the game around.
In the 32nd minute, Gerard Ladiyou successfully defended the goal from Gryphon attacks. In the next minute of play, second-year forward Alon Badat went down. Though he initially left the field, Badat quickly recovered and in the 37th minute, tapped in the Lions first goal for his sixth of the season. More details on the York Lions website.
