Expect ongoing traffic delays on Steeles Avenue West

Site preparations have begun for the construction of Steeles West Subway Station, which diagonally straddles Steeles Avenue West at Northwest Gate, on York University’s Keele campus.

Subway construction work will include:

  • Site preparation;
  • Utility relocations;
  • Installation of construction fencing on either side of Steeles Avenue West; and,
  • Deep excavation.An artist's sketch of the new Steeles Avenue West subway station

Traffic restrictions on Steeles Avenue West will continue and will be modified to suit subway construction activities over the next three years. While driving through this construction zone, motorists are asked to use extra care and reduced speeds. Traffic movement will be reduced to ensure public safety and to allow for construction vehicles to access the site on both the north and south sides of Steeles Avenue West.
