Starting this week, work gets underway on a new walkway between York Lanes and the York Research Tower. Portions of the existing wooden construction fence will be removed as crews begin preparing the new walkway.
Construction will involve some demolition of concrete, grading and compaction of the area for a six-metre wide asphalt walkway. For occupants of the York Research Tower or York Lanes, the demolition and compaction activities may result in noise and vibration as is typical with this type of construction work.
An extension of the current walkway on the east side of Ian Macdonald Boulevard will also be constructed. This extension is necessary to accommodate utility work that will extend beyond the current construction fencing north of Ian Macdonald Boulevard. Initially, construction fencing will be installed as crews prepare for the utility relocation.
A further notice will be distributed to the community when the new walkway is open and available for use. Pedestrians are advised to take extra care while walking near the construction areas and follow the pedestrian signs.
