York Lions raise money for sick kids

Members of the York University Lions Sport Council have spent the past three months running a raffle to raise money for Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) and this past week a group of council members travelled downtown to present their donation to the SickKids Foundation.

In total, the Lions raised $1,622.50 for the foundation thanks to their own contributions and the generous donations of York community members who attended varsity games this past season.

York Sport Council presidents Amanda Hannus and Andrew McMillan and representative David Mayer were joined by the Lions mascot at SickKids Hospital on Friday afternoon to present the money to Kari Gulin, SickKids Foundation coordinator. The mascot also took time to visit with children in the hallways and was greeted by many high fives and hugs.
