York Vice-President Academic and Provost Patrick Monahan issued this announcement to the University community:
I am delighted to announce the appointment of Professor Marilyn Lambert-Drache as the next associate vice-president international. She will take up her new position on July 1, succeeding Professor Lorna Wright.
Marilyn Lambert-Drache
Professor Lambert-Drache has been a member of the York University community since 1990 and she is currently professor of French Studies in the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies. From 2004 to 2009, she served as associate dean student relations in the (former) Faculty of Arts. Since 2009 she has been associate dean students and the director of the Centre for Student Success in the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies. In these capacities she has gained a deep understanding of the academic and non-academic issues and concerns experienced by the full range of York students, including international students. She has been a passionate champion on behalf of students and student interests. She has worked with colleagues across the University to support student recruitment and retention, access, advising and success. She also served as the University Adviser on the Status of Women from 2000 to 2003 and as acting master of McLaughlin College in 1998-1999.
Professor Lambert-Drache has considerable international experience, travelling extensively in Europe, Asia and Latin America to speak at conferences and other fora. She has been actively involved in the International Federation of Professors of French (FIPF) as elected vice-president and president of the FIPF North American Commission; in this capacity she works with a network of faculty, administrators, government officials, and diplomats from around the world. In addition, she speaks five languages fluently.

York has made great progress over the past decade in establishing itself as a leader in internationalization through exchange agreements, curricular initiatives and research collaborations.
