New study on cardiac rehabilitation is looking for participants

Are you a woman with heart disease? If so, you should consider taking part in a study led by York health Professor Sherry Grace.

Cardiac rehabilitation is a medically-supervised, outpatient disease management program that includes exercise, education on heart healthy living, and counseling to help you in your recovery. It is recommended that all heart patients go, as it greatly improves your health over the long term.

A new research study is seeking to understand how such programs can better meet the needs of female heart patients. This study involves having an equal chance to attend either a co-ed, women-only or home-based cardiac rehabilitation program.

The program is provided at no charge to study participants. The research team asks that you to fill out a survey before and after the program, which will require approximately 30 minutes of your time.

Please contact the lead investigator at cr4her@gmail.com or call 416-340-4800 ext.6593# to find out more about participating in this study.
