This is my time at the Ontario Universities Fair

What’s the one place where 130,000 high school students and their parents can learn more about how York University can turn passion into action?

It is the Ontario Universities Fair, which will take place Sept. 28 to 30 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. The single biggest recruitment event of the year, OUF brings all of Ontario’s universities into one location so that students and their parents can explore possible programs of study and ask the pertinent questions that will help them decide which university best meets their needs and aspirations.

“The Ontario Universities Fair is the kick-off event for York’s recruitment efforts. During the three days, my team and our Faculty partners speak with thousands of students from across the province. The OUF represents a wonderful opportunity to showcase York’s strengths,” says Joanne Duklas, associate vice-president enrolment management and University Registrar. “New this year? We’ll be enhancing the booth experience courtesy of the powerful imagery within the new brand campaign, ‘this is my time’. York community members are encouraged to visit the OUF and see for themselves how York and other schools are helping students.”

Integrated into York’s booth this year are pictures of York students who are part of the campaign. They are live examples of the power and potential of a York education and are intent on turning their own passions into actions.

York will further push the boundaries of the OUF experience by offering an opportunity to future students to have their photograph taken in a photo booth. After they’ve finished mugging for the camera, they can upload their photo to Facebook and tweet their vision for a chance to win free tuition for a year and an opportunity for a televised campus tour with MuchMusic.

“The Tweet for Tuition contest grand prize of free tuition comes in the form of a credit and represents a tremendous support for students to help pay for their studies,” says Duklas. “The winner will have the opportunity to use the credit now, or they can apply it later when they come to York University to pursue a graduate degree as long as they use it before 2016.”

The MuchMusic contest closes Thursday, Nov. 8. Twenty-five random entries will be drawn from the visions submitted by future students, which will then be judged by a panel of York judges. The winner will be announced at the end of November.
