Emergency response warden program training sessions

The Office of Emergency Preparedness would like to remind all York University community members of upcoming training sessions for the Emergency Response Warden Program.

The Emergency Response Warden Program was established to ensure the safe and prompt evacuation of staff, faculty and students from designated areas during emergencies and drills.

In-class training sessions are three hours long and include:

  • An overview of Emergency Preparedness at York University.
  • Identification of roles and responsibilities.
  • Review of applicable legislation.
  • Discussion of unit-specific Emergency Preparedness Sub Plans.
  • Review of best practices for building evacuations.

If you are currently an Emergency Response Warden, Building Emergency Captain or Emergency Preparedness Coordinator and it has been over one year since your last training session, please ensure that you register for an upcoming session as part of the ongoing refresher training for the program.

The Office of Emergency Preparedness is also offering a new online option for those who need to refresh their training. The online training session is approximately one hour long and can be completed from the comfort of your computer.
