Canadian Space Agency head leaving to focus on quantum physics

Steve MacLean, former astronaut and president of the Canadian Space Agency, who holds a doctorate in physics from York University, is coming down to Earth to take up residence in Canada’s blossoming “quantum valley” research hub in Waterloo, Ont. Dr. MacLean will leave his post on Feb. 1, the agency announced in a statement on Tuesday. He will join a new venture launched by Mike Lazaridis, the former CEO and co-founder of Research in Motion, reported The Globe and Mail Jan. 15. Read full story.
