Sangha, will launch Wednesday, Feb. 20, from 7 to 10pm, at the Gladstone Hotel, 1214 Queen St. W., Toronto. There will be hot and cold hors d'oeuvres served and a cash bar. The cost of admission is $5 or free with the BookStepmotheringpurchase of any book or journal. RSVP to angiedeveau@gmail.com by Feb. 12.

Billed as a celebration of motherhood, literature and scholarship, the latest issue of the Journal of the Motherhood Initiative: Motherhood Activism, Advocacy, Agency will also launch that evening, says York women’s studies Professor and Demeter Press Editor Andrea O’Reilly.

Mothers, Daughters & Untamed Dragons explores the love, caring and sacrifice, as well as the tensions and conflict, in mother-daughter relationships through the lives of four generations of women. The setting for the first generation is located within the crumbling BookWhatDoMothersWantOttoman Empire, and the eventual birth of the Republic of Turkey.

Stepmothering: A Spiritual Journey draws the reader into the life of a South Asian mother and full-time stepmother as she embarks on a spiritual journey of healing and renewal. It is an inspiring real life example of how (step) mothering can shift from being overwhelming to being a catalyst for empowerment and personal tDemeterJournalransformation.
