reYUse and give a new life to old stuff

As the old saying goes, “one person’s trash is another person’s treasure”, but finding that treasure can take time and money, especially if you visit yard sales, or peruse classified ads or other online sites. reYUse is a new application that simplifies this age-old transaction by connecting York U community members who want to exchange unwanted items for free.

reYUse provides an venue for posting items that you no longer want. The application provides a search function so that you can see items posted by others. There's even a message alert to let you know when someone is interested in an item you've posted online.

reYUse gives unwanted items a second life and reduces the amount of waste sent to the landfill. The best part is everything is free!

“The reYUse site will be great for students looking to find items for free,” said Catherine Salole, Director of Student Community and Leadership Development at York. “Student budgets are often stretched, so the ability to find something nearby, at no cost, will definitely benefit our students.”

The site is easy to use, log in through your Passport York account to sign up. Once you have signed up, you can begin posting, searching and finding those elusive treasures from other members of the York community.

And while the appeal to the budget conscious student is obvious, reYUse can also come in handy for all York community members, since the York campuses are a daily meeting place that will make the exchange of items that much simpler.

For more information on reYUse, including instructions on how to sign up, visit the reYUse application webpage. And remember, reYUse is for personal items only.

Faculty and staff looking to exchange York-owned items should visit the Procurement Services website.
