Site preparations began Thursday, Feb. 28, for the excavation of a cross passage for the northern subway tunnels. The construction site is situated southeast of Ottawa Road, in the Vanier/Founders Green near the Founders Residence and east of the Lumbers parking lot. This tunnel construction is anticipated to last until approximately June.
Construction work will include:
- installation of a chain link fence around the construction site and a construction gate;
- construction of a new walkway south of the construction site;
- large construction vehicles entering and exiting the site, including a drill rig;
- drilling and excavation activities – some noise and vibration may be experienced.
Work will normally run from 7am to 7pm, Monday to Friday.
A new pedestrian walkway will be built south of the construction site. Please watch for and obey all signs.
A project information centre is open in York Lanes across from the York University Bookstore.
