Osgoode team wins Warren K. Winkler Award at the International Competition for Mediation Advocacy

On Friday, March 15, the Osgoode team of Ashley Doidge, Dimitri Bollegala, Mark Sheeley and Justin D’Aloisio won the Warren K. Winkler Award for the top Canadian law school at the International Competition for Mediation Advocacy (ICMA). The team placed fifth overall out of 14 law schools from the United States, Canada, and the Caribbean in the competition, which was held from March 12 to 15 at Osgoode Hall in downtown Toronto.  The team stood in second place after three strong rounds by the entire team, against Georgetown University, the University of Ottawa and the University of Saskatchewan.

Bollegala and Sheeley advanced to the quarter-finals against Hugh Wooding Law School (Trinidad and Tobago). Their skillful match, coupled with strategic planning and assistance from Doidge and D'Aloisio, ensured their seating as the top Canadian law school for the fourth year in a row.

The team was coached by Darren Hall (JD '11) Osgoode Professor Paul Emond. Osgoode Hall Law School Professor Emeritus Fred Zemans, and Osgoode PhD candidate Bob Thompson helped the team prepare for the competition.
