Osgoode placed second overall at the third annual Donald G. H. Bowman National Tax Moot. This year’s event, which was held March 1 and 2 in Toronto, consisted of 20 teams from across Canada. Osgoode’s team, including Anna Konewka, Andrew Boyd (researcher), Tyler Koverko, Mark Sheeley and Jonathan Sherman, received expert coaching from Pooja Samtani and Justin Kutyan from Osler LLP.

In the final round, Sheeley and Koverko argued the gambling case of Leblanc v. The Queen against the University of Alberta. The case was argued in front of the Chief Justice Gerald Rip, Patrick J. Boyle and Justice Karen Sharlow.
The Donald G.H. Bowman National Tax Moot is Canada’s first competitive moot on taxation. The moot is named after the Donald G.H. Bowman, former chief justice of the Tax Court of Canada.
