Darrell Glenn will join the coaching staff for the 2013-14 season of the York University Lions men’s basketball, head coach Tom Oliveri announced Thursday.
Glenn, who will serve as an assistant coach, is an accomplished coach at the postsecondary level. He comes to York from Humber College, where he spent six seasons as the head coach of the Hawks men’s basketball program. While there, Glenn led the Hawks to four 
Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) championships and was named the OCAA coach of the year three times (2004, 2006 and 2009). He also earned the national coach of the year award in 2009.

“I am excited to have coach Glenn join the Lions men’s basketball staff,” said Oliveri. “He brings to our program tremendous experience and an outstanding knowledge of the game. I have worked with him extensively in the past and I know our student-athletes will benefit from his coaching techniques and enthusiasm.”
Glenn has plenty of international experience as an assistant coach with Canadian national teams at multiple age levels. He won bronze medals at the under-21 World Championships in 2005 and the FISU World University Games in 2007, and was also on the staff for the FISU World University Games team that finished fifth in 2009.
In addition, he previously served as the head coach of the under-15 Ontario provincial team in 2002 and 2003, leading the squad to back-to-back national championships. He has spent time with Oliveri in Baskteball Ontario’s player development program.
Glenn will make his league debut on the sidelines with the Lions in November when the 2013-14 Ontario University Athletics season gets underway. The full men’s basketball schedule will be announced in June.
