Interruption of the Keele campus steam and hot water system set for Saturday, June 15

In order to accommodate necessary upgrades to the campus steam system there will be a 15-hour shutdown of the Keele campus steam and hot water systems on Saturday, June 15, from 8am to 11pm. The shutdown will affect the hot water and heating steam supply to buildings and is required to complete large steam valve installations required for new chiller installation and steam system upgrades.

The 15-hour shutdown is required to complete large steam valve installations required for the new chiller installation and steam system upgrades. Every effort will be made to keep the service interruption as short as possible.
Buildings that have domestic hot water tanks should retain some residual heat.  The following buildings, which have flash units, will not have any domestic hot water during the shutdown:
Atkinson Residence

  • #340 Assiniboine Road
  • Calumet Residence
  • Passy Garden Apartments
  • Pond Road Residence
  • Tatham Hall
  • Vanier Residence
  • Winters Residence

It is important to note that sterilization equipment will have no steam supply during the shutdown. Domestic cold water will not be affected by the shutdown.
