If you haven't already, register kids for York Lions sport and diabetes sports camps

The York Lions Sport Camps registration is now open. Have you heard about York’s specialized Diabetes Sport Camps?

The York Lions Sport Camps provide children ages 8 to 16 years with opportunities to develop their skills and campunderstanding of sport and active living, while having fun and enjoying their summer with new peers. Sport choices offered are: basketball, soccer, tennis, track & field and multi-sport.

The reputable Diabetes Sports Camp, run by Professor Michael Riddell, a researcher at York, provides young people with Type 1 diabetes a necessary hands-on learning experience that teaches independent understanding and management of diabetes. This unique program is seamlessly integrated with the above sport camps and is designed to enhance the quality of life for young persons with Type 1 diabetes through sport and physical activity in a unique camp experience with peers.

All campers with diabetes will have access to nursing staff, athletic therapy and clinical exercise physiologists. Campers will also have the opportunity to work with counsellors with Type 1 diabetes and enjoy presentations from influential guest speakers. The camp will be running during the weeks of July 8 to 12 and 15 to 19.
