Site preparation begins for new engineering building

New Engineering Building alternate walkwayConstruction on the new engineering building, on the former site of the library parking lot, will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 3. The library lot is now closed, with temporary fencing in place to accommodate preliminary work.  Completion of this project is expected to take two years.

How will this impact the community?

  • Access to and from the site will be via Arboretum Lane and traffic delays during heavy delivery times can be expected.
  • Pedestrian flow going to and from the north and south parts of campus, west of the library lot, will be restricted (map attached).
  • Signage will be in place by next week directing pedestrians to alternate routes, either through Central Square or along the sidewalk on the east side of The Pond Road.

When travelling through the construction zone, watch for and adhere to all traffic and pedestrian signage and traffic control personnel.

Additional bulletins will be posted as the project progresses.

Any questions or concerns regarding the project can be directed to Irina Arsene, construction project manager, at 416 799-5583 or iarsene@yorku.ca.
