Peter Roosen-Runge, a retired faculty member in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the Lassonde School of Engineering, has died. Professor Emeritus Roosen-Runge died in Toronto on Oct. 21.

Prof. Roosen-Runge taught for 40 years at York University in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department. He was the chair of the Computer Science Department from 1976 to 1980. He was the associate director for Research in the CulTech Collaborative Research Centre.
He was also a board member of the Glenn Gould Foundation from 2004 to 2008.
His interrelated interests in mathematics, politics, philosophy, archaeology, social justice, music, computer science and technology meant he was never without conversation or strong opinions with his colleagues, family and friends. He leaves his wife Cherilyn in their 52nd year of marriage and his children Lisa and Anna. He was the beloved grandfather to Charlotte, Griffin and Vivienne Leong.
In lieu of a service, donations can be made in his memory to the Toronto Parks and Trees Foundation. The University flags will be lowered to half-mast from 9am on Wednesday, Nov. 6 until 1pm on Thursday, Nov. 7 in memory of Prof. Roosen-Runge.
