Tyler McGee could not be contained Saturday, notching three points for the York University Lions men’s hockey team in a 3-1 upset victory over the No. 4 ranked McGill University Redmen at Canlan Ice Sports.

Richard Iheadindu and Ryan Ejim continued their stellar seasons for the York University Lions men’s basketball team, once again leading the charge in a 90-83 victory over the Wilfrid Laurier University Golden Hawks in Waterloo, Ont., on Saturday.
The win in the team’s third straight and advances the Lions to 4-2 on the year, while the Golden Hawks dropped to 3-3 with the loss. More details.
The Lions began their week with an 86-79 victory over the University of Waterloo Warriors on Thursday that moved the team above .500. Iheadindu and Ejim once again led the charge for the Lions, notching 22 and 21 points, respectively, to lift the Lions to victory. More details.
Women’s volleyball Lions defeat Lakers to extend win streak to eight
The York University Lions women’s volleyball team extended its perfect season to eight games on Saturday, disposing of the Nipissing University Lakers in four sets for the 3-1 victory in North Bay, Ont.
The Lions claimed the first set handily, 25-12, but would concede the second to a battling Lakers squad. York would recover, however, winning the next two with ease, 25-6 and 25-14. They remain the only undefeated team in the OUA, with an 8-0 mark, while the Lakers dropped to 0-8 with the loss. More details.
Men’s volleyball Lions win third straight with victory over Lakers
The York University Lions men’s volleyball team made quick work of the Nipissing University Lakers on Saturday, winning in three straight sets in North Bay, Ont.
The Lions had the game under control throughout, winning handily 25-19, 25-13 and 25-21. With the win, the Lions move to 7-2 on the year, which has them tied for first place in the OUA standings with 14 points. More details.
Women’s basketball Lions rally late but fall to Golden Hawks
The York University Lions women’s basketball team’s late rally ultimately fell short Saturday, as the squad were unable to catch the Wilfrid Laurier University Golden Hawks in a 64-54 loss in Waterloo, Ont.
The loss drops the Lions to 1-5 on the season, while the Golden Hawks improved to 3-3 with the win. The first quarter had both teams deadlocked, as the squads traded buckets back and forth to an exciting 17-17 tally by the first break. More details.
Earlier in the week, the Lions lost a heart breaker to the University of Waterloo Warriors by a score of 50-49, when Mackenzie Lougheed scored the winning basket with 18 seconds left on the clock to break a 48-48 tie. She finished with 13 points, nine rebounds and three steals.
Ishanaa Seupersadsingh had a chance to tie the game with 0.3 seconds left on the clock when she was fouled and awarded two free throws, but she drained just one. More details.
Joyce scores two in Lions’ loss to Lakers
A busy third period left the York University Lions women’s hockey team on the wrong side of 4-2 decision Saturday, falling to the Nipissing University Lakers in front of a home crowd at the Canlan Ice Sports.
Andrea Joyce scored both Lions’ goals in the third period, her team-leading fifth and sixth of the year, but it was not enough to overcome the Lakers. More details.
