Last week, members of the York Lions football and women's rugby teams took time away from their busy schedules to support the Canadian Blood Services Holiday Drive.

Led by Aisan Fazeli and Vicky Mork, the women's rugby Lions started the initiative a couple of years ago and this season convinced the football team to join them. Together, the student-athletes made 60 donations, with each one able to help three people survive.

The women's rugby team has also turned the annual event into an internal competition to see who can donate blood the fastest. This year's winner was Genevieve Burnett, with Jonelle Mars finishing in second place and Fazeli rounding out the top three.
