Demeter Press is celebrating the Canadian/maternal literary writing at a multi-book launch Friday.
The feminist imprint is releasing five books: Fresh Hell: Motherhood in Pieces by Carellin Brooks; Milk Fever by Lissa M. Cowan; Lowballer by Kim Goodliffe; What We Hold In Our Hands by Kim Aubrey; and In the Academic Jungle: A Single Mother’s Adventure by Aysan Sev’er.All are invited to the launch at Playful Grounds, 605 College St., Toronto, Jan. 24 from 7 to 10pm. Admission is pay-what-you-can and a $20 donation will include a free copy of one of the titles. Submit your RSVP to organizers as soon as possible.
Demeter Press is an independent feminist press committed to publishing peer-reviewed scholarly work, fiction, poetry and creative non-fiction by and about mothers, mothering and family issues. It is the publishing arm of the Motherhood Initiative for Research and Community Involvement, founded and directed by York women’s studies Professor Andrea O’Reilly, on sabbatical this year.
