Speakers from a variety of fields, including hospitals, pharmaceuticals and academia, will be at the Muscle Health Research Centre’s first graduate student career fair.
The event is aimed at informing graduate students at the master’s and PhD level of the non-academic options available to them upon graduation.
The career fair will take place Friday, May 2, from 8:45am to 1:30pm, at 103 Life Sciences Building, Keele campus. The fair is sponsored by the Muscle Health Research Centre in the Faculty of Health.
There will be two morning sessions with speakers from various fields. Coffee and breakfast will be from 8:45 to 9am, followed by the speakers.
Session 1:
- 9 to 9:15am – Michael O’Leary, associate dean, School of Hospitality Recreation and Tourism at Humber College;
- 9:20 to 9:35am – Professor Noah Gentner of the Faculty of Kinesiology at the University of Guelph-Humber;
- 9:40 to 9:55am – Cassandra Uchida, medical writer at New Evidence Journal;
- 10 to 10:15am – Christine MacDonald, director of Business Development at Mitacs; and
- 10:20 to 10:35am – Cheryl Giblon, industry liaison manager at York University.
Break with coffee, from 10:40 to 11am.
Session 2:
- 11 to 11:15am – Jennifer B. Rose, medical science liaison, Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson and Johnson;
- 11:20 to 11:35am – Ed Thommes, health outcomes manager at GlaxoSmithKline and adjunct professor at the University of Guelph;
- 11:40 to 11:55am – Eric Yang, head of identity and impurities unit, biochemistry, Sanofi Pasteur;
- 12 to 12:15pm – Heather Pelly, medical laboratory technologist, Hospital for Sick Children; and
- 12:20 to 12:35pm – Orla Smith, research coordinator, St. Michael’s Hospital.
Lunch will be provided at 12:40pm.
