The York University Lions football program started on Monday, Aug. 18, with the kickoff of the 2014 season training camp.
More than 100 football players have reported to camp. Twice daily practices are on the schedule for the first two weeks leading into the start of the season.
The highlight of training camp is a preseason game against the Carleton University Ravens on Saturday, Aug. 23, in Ottawa. York and Carleton will not meet in the regular season this year as the Ravens represent one of two non-combatants for the Lions (the other is the Guelph Gryphons).
The Lions will open their 2014 campaign in Ottawa on Labour Day Monday, Sept. 1, with a game against the Ottawa Gee-Gees. They will play their home opener the following weekend, on Saturday, Sept. 6, against the defending Yates Cup champion, the Western University Mustangs, at the York Stadium.
