The York University Bookstore has made several changes to accommodate students with acquiring their textbooks and course materials this September.
Extended hours and best times to shop:
Extended hours will be in effect from Sept. 1 through 26, with the main Keele campus bookstore remaining open till 9pm during the first two weeks of classes. The York University Bookstore website has a full listing of the September hours. Off-peak hours tend to be the best time to shop. The off-peak hours during the first two weeks of classes are weekday mornings, evenings and Saturdays.
Finding textbooks:
Students are encouraged to come to the Bookstore prepared with their book requirements, which can be found on the Bookstore website and can printed off in advance of their visit. Note, that the Keele and Glendon campus bookstores have separate search pages.
Shop online:
Students can shop online through the Bookstore website. A special promotion to offset shipping costs, running from Aug. 25 to Sept. 14, offers a $10 coupon on orders exceeding $200.
Residence students:
Students in living in York’s Keele campus residences can shop online and have their orders sent to one of three residence mail rooms for pickup – Complex I & II, or Pond Road. Check the Bookstore website for hours and other details.
Used book buyback:
From Sept. 2 to 26, the Keele campus Bookstore used book buyback will be located just next door to the Bookstore – entrance at the east end of the Colonnade.
Saving money:
The Bookstore is working hard to save students money. Used books provide a savings of 25 per cent, with e-books up to 50 per cent and rental books from 30 to 70 per cent. On top of these savings, the York University Bookstore has a reward program for all purchases made using the YU-card, which provides five per cent in Scholar Dollars with every purchase. For every 100 points earned, the York University Bookstore will double it.
Win your books:
For the eighth year in a row, the York University Bookstore is holding its “Win Your Books Contest” with a first prize of 100 per cent off any single purchase at the Bookstore. Over the past seven years, some 46 students have won close to $5,000 back. Visit the Bookstore website to enter.
