The student protests in Hong Kong and the Occupy Central movement have drawn the world’s attention to the ongoing conflict over democratization in the territory and the role of the central Chinese government authorities in Hong Kong’s political development.
On Monday, Oct. 6, from 3 to 5pm, at 280N York Lanes, Keele campus, a panel of experts will discuss the recent protests and their impacts.
The panel will also consider what the next phases in this still unresolved conflict may mean for Hong Kong politically, socially and economically.
The panellists are as follows:
- Bernard H.K. Luk of the Department of History;
- Yuk-Lin Renita Wong of the School of Social Work;
- Wendy S. Wong of the Department of Design; and
- Susan J. Henders of the Department of Political Science.
The event is sponsored by the York Centre for Asian Research (YCAR). For more information, contact ycar@yorku.ca or visit the YCAR website.
