York mathematics Professor Huaxiong Huang has accepted an appointment as the associate director for industry liaison for the Fields Institute for Research in Mathematics. Huang will facilitate connections between academic researchers and their counterparts in industry. He will also be responsible for developing programs aimed at advancing a scientific environment within the institute that will nurture connections and collaborations between academic scientists and industry researchers.
Huang will continue his role as a professor at York University, where he has been a faculty member in the Department of Mathematics in the Faculty of Science since 1999. He is an active researcher in the field of applied and industrial mathematics. He has organized many industrial mathematics workshops in Canada and elsewhere. Huang edits several journals related to his interests in mathematical modelling and scientific computing, financial and industrial mathematics, biomathematics and fluid mechanics.
