Call for abstracts: GRASP Research Symposium -- Integrative Approaches to Health

The Graduate Research Association of Students in Public Health (GRASP) is currently accepting abstracts for a research symposium taking place on Thursday, March 26, at York University and co-hosted by the York Institute for Health Research. This symposium will focus on showcasing York’s interdisciplinary spirit in exploring multiple dimensions in the study of health.

Student researchers from all disciplines are invited to submit an abstract to present at the symposium. Both undergraduate and graduate papers will be considered. Strong consideration will be given to research incorporating multiple sub-disciplines and addressing health-related issues. Sub-disciplines can include, but are not limited to: medicine, sociology, epidemiology, engineering, kinesiology, health policy, law, education, psychology, biostatistics, nursing and neuroscience.

Submission Guidelines

Include your:

  • name and area of study;
  • email address and phone number (mobile); and
  • title and abstract not exceeding 250 words.

In addition, plan for a 15-minute presentation, plus five minutes of Q&A.

Send abstracts to grasp@yorku.ca no later than Feb. 13.

A symposium schedule and location will be promoted and posted on the GRASP  (www.yorku.ca/grasp) website. Acceptance letters will be sent within three weeks after the deadline for submission.

Audio and video equipment will be provided at the symposium for the presenters using PowerPoint presentations. Refreshments, lunch and beverages will be served. Attendance will be open to all students, faculty and staff at York at no charge.

If you are a candidate for the GRASP Certificate of Interest in Public Health (for attending four GRASP events throughout the year), you have the option to be presented the certificate at the symposium. Awards will be presented at the end of the conference.

Funding will be provided by the York Federation of Students.
