New roles for Faculty of Science administrative leadership

Sylvie Morin

Sylvie Morin, chemistry professor, has been appointed as associate dean, research and graduate education for a three-year term, effective August 1. She served the Faculty as associate dean, faculty affairs from May 2013 to July 2014, where she implemented a mentoring program for new faculty members.

Peter Cribb

Peter Cribb

Peter Cribb, senior lecturer in computer science, has been re-appointed as associate dean, students for a one-year term, effective July 1. Serving in that role since 2009, Cribb has made tremendous contributions to student success and to advance teaching and learning across the Faculty, mostly recently spearheading a successful Academic Innovation Fund proposal to develop an integrated science program for first-year students.

Don Hastie

Don Hastie

Don Hastie, chemistry professor, has been appointed as chair of the Department of Chemistry for a term of up to three years, effective July 1. Hastie has been with York University for almost 40 years and has served in a number of leadership roles previously, including an earlier term as chemistry chair and as associate dean, faculty and interim dean of the Faculty of Science.

Marshall McCall

Marshall McCall

Marshall McCall, astronomy professor, returns to his role as chair of the Department of Physics and Astronomy from his sabbatical for a three-year term, effective July 1. McCall previous served as chair of the Department of Physics and Astronomy between 2005-2008 and 2009-2014.

John Amanatides, computer science professor, returns to his roles as master of Bethune College from his sabbatical for a five-year term, effective July 1. Amanatides previous served as master of Bethune College between 2008-2014.
