Steam and hot water interruption July 29

To accommodate necessary repairs, there will be a four-hour shutdown of the steam and hot water systems on Wednesday, July 29, from 10am to 2pm in the following buildings:

  • Behavioural Science Building
  • Central Square
  • Curtis Lecture Halls
  • Ross Building
  • Scott Library
  • New Engineering Building
  • Stedman Lecture Halls
  • Student Centre
  • Vari Hall
  • Accolade East Building
  • Accolade West Building
  • Bennett Centre for Student Services
  • Burton Auditorium
  • Centre for Film & Theatre
  • Joan & Martin Goldfarb Centre for Fine Arts
  • Technology Enhanced Learning Building
  • Seneca College
  • Schulich School of Business
  • 320-380 Assiniboine Road
  • Atkinson College
  • Atkinson Residence
  • Health, Nursing & Environmental Studies Building
  • Ignat Kaneff Building, Osgoode Hall Law School
  • Pond Road Residence
  • Passy Gardens Apartments

An alternate steam system configuration will be attempted for the buildings listed below. If the alternate configuration is successful, the following buildings will not experience a steam outage:

  • Accolade East Building
  • Accolade West Building
  • Bennett Centre for Student Services
  • Burton Auditorium
  • Centre for Film & Theatre
  • Joan & Martin Goldfarb Centre for Fine Arts
  • Seneca College
  • Schulich School of Business
  • Technology Enhanced Learning Building
  • 320-380 Assiniboine Road
  • Atkinson College
  • Atkinson Residence
  • Health, Nursing & Environmental Studies Building
  • Ignat Kaneff Building, Osgoode Hall Law School
  • Pond Road Residence
  • Passy Gardens Apartments

Buildings that have domestic hot water tanks should retain some residual heat.

The following buildings, which have flash units, will not have any domestic hot water during the shutdown:

  • Pond Road Residence
  • Passy Gardens Apartments
  • #340 Assiniboine Road
  • Atkinson Residence

Note: Sterilization equipment will have no steam supply during the shutdown. Domestic cold water will not be impacted. This time has been selected to ensure minimum inconvenience to the York community. Every effort will be made to shorten the outage time.
