An inspiring Canadian tradition marks 24 years at York University on Sunday, Sept. 20, when the 35th annual Terry Fox Run returns to campus.
The event, first held at York U in 1992 and first held in Canada in 1981, raises funds for cancer research in the name of cancer research activist Terry Fox.
The annual non-competitive run at York has become a tradition. This year, it will kick off at 10am, with registration beginning at 9am and a warm-up at 9:45am.
The event course will begin at the Pan Am/Parapan Am Athletics Stadium, where participants can choose from a five-kilometre or 10-kilometre route to bike, Rollerblade, walk or run. The course will take participants on a route around the campus (for a map, go here), and end back at the Stadium. It is both stroller and wheelchair accessible, and dogs are welcome.
The goal of the run is to raise money and awareness for cancer research while spreading the inspirational story of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope.
