Join York University President and Vice-Chancellor Mamdouh Shoukri on Nov. 3 for a sweet start to your morning, when he and other senior leaders flip flapjacks for a good cause during the President’s Pancake Breakfast.
For only a toonie, students, staff and faculty can enjoy a plate of pancakes with syrup while supporting the greater community. The event runs 8 to 10am in Central Square Cafeteria, and launches the 2015 York Cares United Way Campaign.
Confirmed pancake flippers at the event include Shoukri, Osgoode Hall Law School Dean Lorne Sossin, Vice-President Advancement Jeff O’Hagan and Provost Rhonda Lenton.
Through the month of November, the York Cares campaign will raise funds for the United Way of Toronto and York Region. This year’s goal is $220,000, and pledge donations account for 95 per cent of the funds raised. This year’s Pledge Drive runs Nov. 3 to 25, and can be done through paper pledge forms or online.
Funds raised through the campaign benefit important local agencies and programs – some of which impact York’s programs and students directly.
York U faculty, staff and students are encouraged to get engaged in the campaign by joining in at one of the events being held on campus, by volunteering as a campaign ambassador or by organizing your own special events in your area. Contact the campaign for more details at yucares@yorku.ca.
