Osgoode Hall Law School will welcome five postdoctoral fellows to speak about their research at the school for an Osgoode Postdoc Talks presentation, Feb. 29 from 12:30 to 2:30pm.
The fellows will present their award-winning research and share their advice about the application process for the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC).
Attending the event are:
Adelina Iftene (PhD, Queen's University) – a SSHRC postdoctoral fellow specializing in prison law, criminal law, and human rights. Her major research projects with aging prisoners lie at the crossroads of law and criminology and they blend social science empirical metholody with legal analysis.
Izevbuwa Kehinde Ikhimiukor (PhD, Middlesex University) – an LLM graduate from the University of Sheffield. Her research interests include international law, international criminal law, international human rights and international humanitarian law. Ikhimiukor is currently working on two SSHRC-funded projects.
Shiri Pasternak (PhD, University of Toronto) – who writes on the multiple meanings and effects of Indigenous law within the contemporary political landscape. Her forthcoming book, called Jurisdiction and Settler Colonialism: The Algonquins of Barriere Lake Against the State, will be published by the University of Minnesota Press next year.
Sagi Peari (PhD, University of Toronto) – a SSHRC postdoctoral fellow and an adjunct faculty member. His research interests lie in the area of conflict of laws, international law, international arbitration, torts and contracts.
Rebecca Schmidt (PhD, European University Institute) – who studied law at the University of Heidelberg (Germany) and obtained an LLM in international and legal studies from New York University. At Osgoode, she is part of the Transnational Business Governance Interaction Project led by Professor Stepan Wood.
