Innovation York hosted “Collaborating for Innovation at York University,” an industry-academic networking event held on March 10, as part of a series of networking opportunities that are organized bi-annually by Innovation York to help foster research partnerships.
The event provided researchers, students and industry collaborators from across Toronto and the GTA with networking opportunities to discuss possible research collaborations, as well as information to better understand the funding mechanisms available to support new research collaborations.
“Innovation York builds industry-academic research partnerships that help our stakeholders bring their ideas to market, accentuating the value of York University research for the local and global community,” said Robert Haché, York’s vice-president research & innovation. “This bi-annual event enables members of the York community to meet with industrial partners to learn more about their research needs and develop long-term collaborative research relationships.”
Topics included: Advancing your research agenda; Enhancing your product roadmap; Accessing government grants; and Networking with academic researchers and industrial partners. Guest speakers were Lance Lehman, general counsel, Industrial Skyworks and Gunho Sohn, associate professor, York University Geomatics Engineering, Lassonde School of Engineering.
More than 90 attendees participated. The event has already resulted in the successful brokering of research collaborations.
