The final instalment of the “In Defence of the Liberal Arts” lecture series presented by the Office of the Master, Founders College will run on March 24 from 3 to 5pm in 305 Founders College.
The three-part series aims to address the marginalization of the liberal arts in postsecondary education.
In this lecture, “Neoliberal Policies and the Liberal Arts: The Singaporean Case”, Professor Pietro Giordan will discuss the context in which the liberal arts in Singapore have recently been given some legitimacy and financial support and how, in spite of this, a more subtle form of censorship has been put in place by the neoliberal establishment.
Some remarks on the cultural specificity of the Singaporean case will be made.
Everyone is welcome. Refreshments will be served.
