James Gillies, the founding dean of York's business school, died on Dec. 13, 2015.
Schulich School of Business has organized a “Celebration of Life and Legacy of Dr. James Gillies” to honour and remember him and his contributions to York.
Gillies first came to York University in 1965 when he was hired by Murray Ross, the first president of York University, to build the business school, which was then known as the Faculty of Administrative Studies (FAS).
He was responsible for building the business school, and putting it on the map.
The event takes place on April 19 at 5:30pm in the Robert R. McEwan Auditorium at Schulich. RSVPs to this event are required by April 13, and can be registered by visiting www.schulich.yorku.ca/gillies.
