Here for the summer term, Food Services brings back Wheels Wednesdays, York University’s food truck program. With rotating food trucks every week, faculty, staff and students can find a variety of local bites on Campus Walk, outside of the William Small Centre every Wednesday from May until August.
Food Services regularly brings food trucks to both Keele and Glendon campuses throughout the academic year for various events including Wheels Wednesday, Orientation Week, Red & White Day and York Lions events and is extending the program into the summer months for the York U community to enjoy.
The staff in Food Services are always looking for new food trucks to bring to the York U campuses. They work with multiple vendors across the GTA so that they can achieve an authentic food truck experience. For the summer months, Food Services will be featuring one food truck per week. The Wheels Wednesdays food truck schedule can be found on the Food Services website.
This week, Wheels Wednesday also falls on a special day in the City of Toronto as it is also the one year anniversary from when City Council approved changes to Toronto’s street food vending regulations at its May 2015 meeting. The changes focus on providing public access to a diversity of street food across the city.
Food trucks will also be back in September for the start of the academic year and continue until the December exam period (if the weather cooperates) for Wheels Wednesdays and other events. The staff in Food Services welcome departments to contact them if they would like to schedule food trucks for a special event.
